Book Announcement: Life and Adventures of John A. Murrell, the Great Western Land Pirate
BrayBree Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of The Life and Adventures of John A. Murrell, the Great Western Land Pirate as an addition to our BrayBree Vintage Edition series.

First publishing in 1847, Life and Adventures is a fanciful biography of legendary outlaw John Andrews Murrell (1806-1844), a convicted horse thief and slave stealer who allegedly organized a secret criminal network called the Mystic Clan of the Confederacy. Virgil A. Stewart exposed his supposed conspiracy to incite a slave rebellion throughout the South to cover for his clan’s widespread thievery in the region, testifying at Murrell’s trial in Jackson, Tennessee in 1834 that resulted in his sentence to the state penitentiary.

Life and Adventures includes the entire 1847 edition with woodcut illustrations, as well as a new introduction by Kevin D. McCann, annotations, and an index.
